Privacy on the Net: Practical Issues

The information and practical techniques
you won't hear of anywhere else

This site is devoted to privacy on the Net. In other words, all that we want to protect and hide from people's eyes and ears. All that generates curiosity or sometimes intense interest of various government agencies and individuals. Our freedom to disseminate and collect information, our right to protect it.

The author hopes that the information the readers can find at this site can help them prevent the violation of their privacy on the Net. Nowadays even traditionally democratic countries become more and more like the societies depicted in George Orwell's 1984 or Vladimir Nabokov's Bend Sinister . Big Brother tries to establish control over everything: your life, mail, bank account, even your vocabulary (remember CDA?). In USA one's innocence is no longer presumed if the charge is tax evasion. And so on, and so forth...

And I'd like to answer a common question before you ask it: Hey, here you're not only telling us how to protect our information, but also describe how to collect it! True. Firstly, I want people to know how other people can collect information about them. Secondly, I believe that our freedom to collect information is a basic freedom, as much as freedom to spread it.
